- What is Namelark?
- Namelark is an offline baby-names app with 4,000+ Indian names — Hindu, Sanskrit, classic and modern — each with a real meaning in English and हिंदी, its rashi, and its origin. It's built to help you narrow thousands of names down to a shortlist you can actually decide on.
- Can I find a baby name by rashi or nakshatra?
- Yes. You can filter names by rashi, grouped under the four elements, and every name page shows the rashi it belongs to by the traditional naam-akshar system, along with the name's likely nakshatra.
- Does every name come with its meaning?
- Yes. Every name carries a real meaning in both English and हिंदी, plus its origin, the themes it belongs to (such as brave, calm, or wise), its numerology number, and how it breaks into aksharas.
- How is Namelark different from other baby-name apps?
- Instead of just A–Z and gender, Namelark filters by how a name actually sounds — its length in aksharas, the Devanagari varga it starts on, and whether it ends open on a vowel or closed on a consonant — as well as by rashi and meaning. Every filter shows how many names it will return before you tap it.
- What are Name Mixer and Name Match?
- Name Mixer takes both parents' names and finds real catalogue names that carry sounds from each — never invented spellings, with the shared fragments highlighted. Name Match is a quick yes-or-no swipe through names, and every name you like drops into your shortlist.
- Does Namelark work offline, and do I need an account?
- Namelark works fully offline — every name is on your phone, so you can search on a flight or in a hospital corridor. There is no account and no sign-up; your language choice and your shortlist stay on your device.
- Is Namelark available on Android and iPhone?
- Namelark is built for both Android and iPhone and is coming soon to Google Play and the App Store. It is fully bilingual too — you can switch the whole app between English and हिंदी with one tap.
