These are the terms of use for the Android app Namelark (package app.namelark.babynames), published by Navritto Solutions Private Limited. How the app handles your data is set out in its privacy policy.
In short: Installing or using Namelark means you accept these terms. Namelark is a free, fully offline app for choosing an Indian baby name — 4,000+ names, each with its meaning, its rashi and where it comes from, plus tools to filter, blend and shortlist them. It is free to use today, with no account or sign-up. The meanings, rashi and nakshatra it shows are there for reference: the rashi is a property of the name, not a horoscope or a prediction about your child, and naming decisions are yours.
What this is
These terms are an agreement between you and Navritto Solutions Private Limited (“Navritto”, “we”), the publisher of the Namelark app. Installing or using the app means you accept them; if you do not accept them, do not install or use it.
Namelark helps you choose an Indian baby name. It offers 4,000+ names — each with its meaning, its rashi and where it comes from, in English and हिंदी — along with ways to filter names, blend both parents' names, and keep the ones you like in a shortlist (the Jar). It is free to use today, needs no account or sign-up, and works entirely on your device.
What it is not
Namelark is a reference and a starting point for a happy decision — it is not an astrologer, a horoscope, or a fortune-telling service. It does not read your child's birth chart, it makes no claim about your child, and it predicts nothing.
Accuracy, and where it stops
The meanings, origins, rashi and nakshatra shown for each name are provided for reference. We take care to get them right and they are drawn from public knowledge, but we cannot guarantee that every entry is complete or free of error.
The rashi shown is a property of the name itself, not of a person: it is the rashi that the name's starting syllable belongs to under the traditional naam-akshar convention. It is NOT a prediction, a horoscope, or a statement about any person, and the nakshatras listed are simply the set that rashi spans — only a birth chart narrows that to one. The app forecasts nothing, and any naming decision is yours to make.
How the app is paid for, and that this can change
Namelark is free to download and use today. How it is funded may change in future — for example we may show advertisements, or offer a one-time purchase or a subscription (say, to remove ads or unlock extra features). Any such change would arrive in a future version of the app and would be described at the time. A copy you have already installed keeps working under the terms it came with: nothing you have already installed suddenly starts charging you, or showing ads, without an update you choose to install.
Using it fairly
Namelark is for your own personal, non-commercial use in choosing a name. Please do not copy, scrape, resell or redistribute its catalogue of names, its meanings, or the rest of its content, and do not try to disrupt the app or misuse it.
The app, its curated catalogue and its design are owned by Navritto or used under licence, and you receive a personal, non-transferable right to use them inside the app. The underlying facts about a name — its meaning, its origin, and the rashi its starting syllable falls under — come from public knowledge and belong to no one.
Availability
Namelark works fully offline, so once it is installed it needs neither us nor a connection to keep working. We may stop updating the app, or remove it from a store, at any time. If we do, a copy you have already installed keeps working exactly as before — it is never switched off or disabled remotely.
What we are responsible for
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep the names, meanings and other details accurate and the app dependable, but we do not warrant that the content is complete, error-free, or always available. This does not exclude any warranty that the law does not allow us to exclude.
To the extent permitted by law, Navritto is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, or from a naming decision you make with it. Nothing here limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, where Navritto is registered. If you use the app as a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer-law rules of the country where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change we will update the date above and publish the new version at this address before it takes effect; continuing to use the app after that means you accept the change.

The other documents
These terms sit alongside two others. Namelark's privacy policy explains what the app does with your information — in short, it collects nothing and works entirely offline. The terms of the store you installed from — Google Play, or the App Store when Namelark is available there — also apply to your download. Where those documents cover something these terms do not, they apply too.
