- What is Partycide?
- Partycide is a murder mystery party game you host at home. Friends gather, each plays a secret character, a staged ‘murder’ happens, and over the evening clues come out until everyone votes on who did it and the culprit is unmasked. One phone — the host's — runs the whole night: invitations, casting, read-aloud scripts, round timers, music, the secret voting and the reveal.
- Do my guests need to install the app?
- No. Only the host needs Partycide. Each guest gets their character booklet as a PDF you send through any messaging app, or print at home, so your friends just turn up and play. One phone runs the evening for everyone.
- How much work is it to host, and can I play too?
- You can plan a party in about ten minutes: set the date and place, add your guests, and the app suggests a fair cast you can adjust, then generates the invitations and booklets. The host can play too — Partycide keeps the solution hidden from you and never makes you the murderer unless you choose to be. On the night it reads the scripts aloud, runs the timers and background music, takes the secret votes and walks everyone through the reveal.
- How many mysteries are there, and what do they cost?
- There are nine mysteries to host now — from a snowbound alpine lodge and a 1920s New Year's Eve speakeasy to a wine-estate harvest night, a Venetian masked ball and a Victorian ghost show — with more to come. The first is free to play in full; the others, or an all-access unlock that covers every mystery now and each new one, are optional one-time purchases, with no subscription and prices set by the app store.
- Is it suitable for all ages, and is it gory?
- The murder is playful and theatrical, never graphic — there is no blood or gore. Each mystery shows its own age rating (Family, Teen or Grown-ups), player count and run time before you start, so you can pick one that suits your guests. Partycide is built for ages 13 and up and is not designed for children under 13.
- Does Partycide work offline, and is my party private?
- Yes. Everything runs on the host's phone and works fully offline — there is no account, no ads, no subscription and no tracking, and nothing about your party is uploaded. Your plans, your guests' names, the votes and the booklets you create all stay on your device.
- What is a murder mystery party?
- A murder mystery party is a game you play at a gathering: each guest is given a secret character, a pretend ‘murder’ happens, and over the evening everyone shares clues and alibis until the group votes on who did it and the culprit is revealed. Partycide runs the whole thing from one phone, so you just host and play.
- How do you host a murder mystery party?
- Pick a mystery and a date, cast your guests, and send each of them a character booklet as a PDF. On the night, read the scripts, time the rounds, play music, drop the clues, take a secret vote and reveal the murderer. Partycide does all of that for you from the host's phone — you can plan it in about ten minutes.
- Can I host a Christmas or New Year's Eve murder mystery party?
- Yes. Partycide includes a family Christmas Eve mystery, Silent Night at Hollymere Hall, and two New Year's Eve mysteries — Midnight at the Gilded Owl, a 1920s speakeasy, and Last Dance of the Millennium, a Y2K prom — alongside mysteries for birthdays, dinner parties and office socials. Each shows its player count and run time before you start.
- Is there a Halloween murder mystery?
- Yes — A Ghost of a Chance is a Halloween murder mystery set on a stormy Victorian pier, for 8 to 14 players. The murder is playful and theatrical, with no blood or gore, so it suits a mixed group of friends.
- How many people do I need for a murder mystery party?
- Partycide's mysteries run from about 6 to 16 players, and each one shows its own player count before you choose it, so there's one for a small dinner party and one for a big group. The host can play too, so you count as one of the players.
- Is Partycide on Android and iPhone?
- Partycide is live and free on Google Play for Android — search for it by name to install — and an iPhone version is coming soon to the App Store.
