How to play Bop Karts

  1. Bop Karts is a single-player kart battle: you against five computer rivals, driving within seconds. Six toy karts share one arena for a two-minute round, and the kart with the most points when the clock reaches zero wins.

  2. Drive through an item box to pick up one of six cartoon items — a Gumball, a Paper Plane, a Jelly, a Bubble Wand, a Pillow Shield or a Soda Boost — then press Space to use it. You hold one item at a time, and a box stays where it is if your slot is already full.

  3. Every kart has three Pep. Any hit takes exactly one Pep, whatever the item. At zero Pep a kart is bopped: it springs up in a puff of confetti and is set back down two seconds later with full Pep. Being bopped costs you two seconds and nothing else — no points, no coins.

  4. A hit scores 10 points and the hit that bops a kart scores 20 more. After every hit and every return there is a short grace period, so hits never chain, and your own items can never hurt you.

  5. Hold Shift through a turn to drift, then let go for a speed zip; hold the drift longer for a bigger one. Drifting is a bonus, not a requirement — Easy and Normal can be won without it.

  6. Play the Battle Tour, six events across three arenas — Picnic Plaza, Stacker Heights and Ice Pop Rink — for one to three stars each: one for finishing in the top three, two for winning, three for winning at or above the event's par score. Or open Quick Battle to pick any arena the Tour has reached, on Easy, Normal or Hard. Stars, best scores, coins and your Garage save on your device, and Continue takes you to your next unfinished event.

Tips

  • Start a drift early, hold it through the whole turn and release as you straighten up — the zip pays most on a long corner.
  • A Gumball travels in a straight line and bounces off walls twice: step out of its line, or put a wall between you and it.
  • A Paper Plane glides toward the kart in front of whoever launched it. Break its line of sight and it crumples on the wall, or out-turn it with a drift.
  • A Jelly sits where it was dropped for twenty seconds. Steer round it, or clear it with a Gumball.
  • Caught in a bubble? Wiggle left and right to pop out early. While you are bubbled nothing else can hit you.
  • A Pillow Shield absorbs one hit and then bursts, so keep your distance from a shielded kart and wait for it to run out.
  • A Soda Boost steers less sharply than normal driving, so a quick side-step gets you out of the way of a boosting kart.
  • Being bopped only costs two seconds, so keep going after points rather than hiding — the grace period means you always get a clean restart.

About Bop Karts

Bop Karts is Navritto's original 3-D kart battle game, built for one player. Every round is you against five computer-controlled rivals — Zuzu, Nib, Dot, Rumble and Mochi — each labelled CPU in the game, in a bright toy-box arena for two minutes. You drive through item boxes to pick up one of six cartoon items: a Gumball that bounces off walls, a Paper Plane that glides toward the kart ahead, a wobbling Jelly trap, a Bubble Wand that lifts a kart off the ground, a Pillow Shield that soaks up one hit, and a Soda Boost. Every kart has three Pep; each hit takes exactly one, and at zero the kart is bopped and returns two seconds later with full Pep and a short grace period, so hits never chain and nobody sits out. A hit scores 10 points and a bop 20 more, and the most points at the end of the round wins. Handling is arcade-simple with one skill to grow into: hold drift through a turn and release for a speed zip. The computer rivals play by the player's rules — they drive the same kart, draw from the same item boxes and are never faster than the player's kart, and no more than two go after the player at once. A Battle Tour of six events across three arenas (Picnic Plaza, Stacker Heights and Ice Pop Rink) awards one to three stars each, and Quick Battle offers any arena the Tour has reached on Easy, Normal or Hard. Coins are earned only by playing and buy cosmetic karts and paint once in the Garage; every kart handles identically, so nothing bought changes a result, and nothing is sold for real money. There are no other human players, no lobbies, no accounts and no chat. Progress — stars, best scores, coins and the Garage — saves on your device. It plays with a keyboard or with on-screen touch controls, in portrait or landscape, and lowers its graphics detail automatically on slower devices. Every item has its own shape, icon and label, Pep is shown as shapes as well as colour, and the game follows your device's reduced-motion setting, calming the camera and effects.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a kart battle game I can play on my own against the computer?
Yes. Bop Karts is single-player: every round is you against five computer-controlled rivals, in your browser, with no download and no sign-up.
Is Bop Karts online multiplayer?
No. There are no other human players, no lobbies and no chat. Your rivals are computer drivers, labelled CPU in the game.
Is Bop Karts like Smash Karts?
It is the same kind of game, an arena kart battle with item pickups, but it is a different, original game. Smash Karts is played online against other people; Bop Karts is single-player against computer rivals, with three Pep per kart and a tour of star challenges to complete.
How do you play Bop Karts?
Steer with A/D or the arrow keys, accelerate with W or Up, press Space to use an item and hold Shift in a turn to drift; release for a speed zip. On a phone the kart accelerates itself: steer with the left thumb, use items and drift with the right.
Are the computer rivals fair?
They drive the same kart you do, draw from the same item boxes, and are never faster than your kart. On Easy and Normal they are slower and less accurate, and no more than two will go after you at once.
Are there in-app purchases in Bop Karts?
No. Coins are earned only by playing and buy cosmetic karts and paint once. There is nothing to buy with real money, no loot boxes and no timers.
Does Bop Karts work on a phone?
Yes. Bop Karts runs in the browser on phones, tablets and laptops, with on-screen touch controls or a keyboard, in portrait or landscape. It lowers its graphics detail automatically on slower devices.
