How to play Ludo

  1. Choose your players first: pick 1 to play solo against the computer, or 2, 3, or 4 to pass one device around for local multiplayer. The computer fills any empty seat. Each player has four tokens that start in their base and must travel all the way around the board and into the centre home to win.

  2. On your turn, tap the dice to roll. You need to roll a 6 to move a token out of base onto its own coloured start square. Rolling a 6 also earns you an extra turn — but roll three 6s in a row and the whole turn is forfeited.

  3. Tap a glowing token to move it forward by the number rolled. To finish, a token needs an exact roll to land on the final home square — if the roll would overshoot, that token can't move. Your own tokens stack freely on a square and never block each other.

  4. Land alone on a single opponent token on a non-safe square and you capture it, sending it all the way back to its base. The four coloured start squares and the four star squares are safe — no capture can happen there. A capture, and bringing a token home, each earn you an extra turn.

  5. If a roll gives you no legal move, your turn passes automatically with a brief note. The game ends the moment one player gets all four tokens home; the final standings are then ranked by how many tokens each player brought home.

Tips

  • Get a token onto the board as early as you can — nothing moves until a 6 frees one from base, so a token in play is always working for you.
  • Use the star and start squares as stepping stones; a token parked on a safe square can never be sent home.
  • Think before you race: knocking the leader back to base is often worth more than pushing your own token forward, and a capture earns a bonus roll.
  • Park two of your tokens on the same square when you can — a pair can't be captured, so it's a safe way to advance together.
  • An exact roll is needed to come home, so plan the final squares: leave a token five away and you'll need a 5 to finish it.

About Ludo

Ludo is Navritto's take on the classic cross-and-circle race board game — a browser version of the pachisi family played the world over — built to play instantly with no install and no account. Roll a die to bring your four tokens out of base, then race them around the 52-square track and into the centre home, sending opponents back to base when you land on them on an open square. Play solo against the computer, or pass a single device around for two, three, or four-player local multiplayer; the computer fills any empty seat. It is turn-based and calm — an unmissable indicator always shows whose turn it is and which colour — the whole board fills the screen on phone and desktop, and your match is saved so you can resume where you left off. The computer opponent rolls the very same random dice you do, sees no future rolls, and cannot cheat. Ludo is the first board game in Navritto Games, alongside puzzles like Sudoku and Lexicon and arcade games like Coil and Ricochet.

Can I play Ludo against the computer?
Yes. Choose 1 player to play solo and the computer fills the other seats. The computer rolls the same random dice you do, sees no future rolls, and cannot cheat — it just plays the odds like any opponent.
Can I play Ludo with friends on one device?
Yes. Pick 2, 3, or 4 players for local pass-and-play: everyone takes turns on the same device, with an unmissable indicator showing whose turn it is and which colour. Ludo has no hidden information, so there's no need to pass a screen privately.
Is the Ludo dice fair?
Yes. Every roll — yours and the computer's — comes from the same random number generator, so no player has an edge. The computer cannot see future rolls and never gets special dice.
Does Ludo need an account or a download?
No. Ludo needs no account and no install; once the page has loaded it plays entirely in your browser, and your match is saved on your device so you can resume it later.
